Bradley Cricket Club

A miserable day in Yorkshire continues

The inception of league cricket in craven began in 1895 with the craven cricket union, some twenty years after Bradley CC were formed. Even at an early stage Bradley were setting records within the league. in 1920 the 1st XI set a league record that still stands today! they achieved the best bowling by and senior side by amazingly bowling out Kelbrook for just 4 runs.
Bradley are proud of their history and non more so than its individual players performances. the club has two bowlers and one batsman on the league all-time list. in 1914 m.gill took a then record 93 wickets (currently 4th on list). twenty three years later c.pritchard than added 4 more wickets to the total. this achievement of 97 wickets now sits 2nd on the all time list for most wickets in one season.
on the batting front neil andrews sits at the top of the pile for number of craven league centuries. his record of 20 league and 2 cup is currently 5 better than any other players. he also sits 4th on the list of most runs in one season. the achievement of 947 runs was notched up in 1994, even with two rained off games at the end of the season.
1987 was a good year for bradley and setting league records. on 2nd may the 1st XI tied their league meeting with embsay, whilst up at shires lane on the same day the 2nd XI's also tied their league match. this unique occurrence is never likely to be achieved again.
in the same season on 13th june tim rudden and david manville both achieved the hat-trick in the same innings against long lee. this is also unique as never before or since have two separate hat-tricks occurred in the same innings.
in 2006 the clubs signed their first overseas player. John Ferguson of karramomus cc, victoria proved to be a massive bonus for the club with 762 runs and 38 wickets. his contribution included a club record 181* v riddlesden in a division 4 league match.
the 2009 season saw the 2nd team get their names into the league history books with the highest scoring tied match against local rivals Cononley. the score of 250-3 v 250-7 was one exciting game and may take some beating.
