Not 100% sure on this one but I believe that it is the former Clariant Works ground on Calverley Lane in Horsforth. There was no signage to confirm.
This would make it, according to the Dales Council website, the home of Farsley, but I know that their ground is a couple of miles away, so I'm guessing that it is the venue for their 3rds or Juniors.
Having just looked, there is a link on the Farsley website to a 3rd XI, but there is no information on the page.
The Jury is still out
Almost exactly the same photograph on this website confirms that this is the correct location for the Clariant Ground
It could also be home to Horsforth 3rd XI
From 2015
Another trip round local cricket grounds so it must be Saturday. After the heavy rain over night , the sun was out and my first photograph, above of Clariant Sports Ground , Calverley Lane, looked excellent. This match was between Farsley Thirds and Crompark in the Dales Council Division B
The ground is just off the Leeds Ring Road near Horsforth and was known as the Sandoz before it became the Clarient factory. The site was sold to Harrow Estates and there will be about 400-500 houses.
- The ground at Horsforth was originally owned by Wilson and Mathieson who were ironfounders based at the Armley Bridge Works off Canal Road. The groundsman was Mostyn (Taffy) Tucker who worked there during the 1960s and 70s to my knowledge. The bowling green was reputed to be the best in the area.
With such a long association with Clowes Cricket Club you'd expect J Rowland to know a bit about its history, and you'd not be wrong.
"Abour 40 years ago Clowes Methodist Cricket Club was renamed Cambridge Road Methodist Cricket Club and then they dropped the 'road' and became Cambridge Methodist Cricket Club. It is still functioning.
"I still act as scorer for the club whose ground nowadays is at the Clariant Works in Calverley Lane, Horsforth, although my playing days finished in the early 80s."
I'll not let you know J Rowland's age but he must have played most of his working life! Oh, and our soccer writer and his father, Mick, both played for Clowes Methodist Cricket Club. See what I mean about the sporting Dews family?
